Regina Elsner

Regina Elsner is a theologian and, since April 2023, holds the chair for Eastern Churches and Ecumenical Studies at the University of Münster. From 2017 to 2023, she worked as a researcher at the Center for East European and International Studies (ZOiS) in Berlin. She holds a PhD from Münster University and worked before as a project coordinator for Caritas Russia in St. Petersburg and as research associate at the Ecumenical Institute of the University of Münster. Elsner is investigating the dynamics of Orthodox social ethics in Eastern Europe since the dissolution of the Soviet Union with a special focus on peace ethics and gender-related topics. Her publications address questions of Orthodox social ethics, peace ethics and anti-genderism as well as the role of Orthodox churches in social conflict and war.
