Aleksandra Szczepan

Aleksandra Szczepan graduated from Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, where she was trained in literary studies and philosophy. She is a co-founder and member of the Research Center for Memory Cultures and authored the book Realista Robbe-Grillet (Robbe-Grillet, the realist; Kraków 2016) together with numerous articles. Her research interests include redefinitions of realism in 20th century literature and art, performative practices of memory, representation of identity, trauma and past. Currently she is part of the research team of the project ‘Unmemorialized Sites of Genocide and Their Impact on Collective Memory, Cultural Identity, Ethical Attitudes and Intercultural Relations in Contemporary Poland’ (National Programme for the Development of Humanities, 2016–2019) and teaches at the Department of Polish Studies of Jagiellonian University.
