Kristiina Silvan

Kristiina Silvan is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs. She holds a PhD in political history from the University of Helsinki. Her PhD dissertation is titled Legacies of the Komsomol: Afterlife of the Leninist Communist Youth League and Contemporary State-Affiliated Youth Activism in Post-Soviet Belarus and Russia (Helsinki: The Finnish Society of Arts and Letters, 2022). Kristiina Silvan’s research focuses on authoritarian governance and social movements in the post-Soviet space. Her articles have appeared in Europe-Asia Studies, Demokratizatsiya: The Journal of Post-Soviet Democratization, Kritika: Explorations in Russian and Eurasian History, and Young: Nordic Journal of Youth Research.
